چکیده

This study aimed to investigate the distribution of virulence factor genes in Shigella strains isolated from children with diarrhea southwest, Iran. In this cross-sectional study, 1530 diarrheal stool specimens were collected aged under 15 years. The identified by biochemical methods and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Subsequently, all isolates evaluated PCR for presence nine ipaH (responsible dissemination cell cell), ial epithelial penetration), sat (displays cytopathic activity several intestinal lines), sigA (toxic cells), pic (associated colonization), pet (cytotoxic sepA (contribute inflammation virF invE (regulatory proteins). A total 91 including 47 S. flexneri, 36 sonnei, 8 boydii identified. All positive gene. other include ial, virF, invE, sigA, sat, sepA, found 84.6%, 72.5%, 68.1%, 62.6%, 51.6%, 39.5%, 37.3% 28.5% isolates, respectively. results showed a high among our region. It seems that different spp. factors contribute pathogenesis. current provided insights into some baseline information about Southwest

distribution of virulence genes, enterotoxin and biofilm formation among enteroaggregative escherichia coli (eaec) strains isolated from stools of children with diarrhea in south east iran

conclusions overall, except for pcvd432 and aggr, we detected high heterogeneity of virulence factors among eaec isolates causing diarrhea in children. one set of genes, in the combination, pic- sepa- agg4a, was associated with strong biofilm. results among the 322 e. coli isolated, 23 were identified as eaec. all eaec carried a 630-bp fragment of the plasmid (paa) encoded pcvd432 and aggr gene...

Prevalence of Shigella enterotoxins 1 and 2 among Shigella strains isolated from patients with traveler's diarrhea.

Shigella spp. are known primarily as a cause of bacillary dysentery. However, in an initial phase, numerous patients exhibit watery diarrhea that may or may not be followed by dysentery. New virulence factors associated with the species of Shigella have recently been described. These are enterotoxins 1 and 2 of Shigella (ShET-1 and ShET-2, respectively). The aim of the present study was to dete...

Distribution of virulence associated genes in isolated Escherichia coli from avian colibacillosis

BACKGROUND: Colibacillosis is one of the most prevalentdiseases in the world that causes multimillion-dollar annuallosses. OBJECTIVES: In order to evaluate molecular epidemiologyof some virulence associated factors in Escherichia coli, isolated from poultry, the presence of iut A, iss, hly F, omp T, iroN, afa, sfa (S)and pap G (II) were investigated by multiplex PCRassay. METHODS: Two hundred th...

Characterization and Distribution of Virulence Factors in Aeromonas hydrophila Strains Isolated from Fecal Samples of Diarrheal and Asymptomatic Healthy Persons, in Ilam, Iran

Aeromonas hydrophila secretes several extracellular proteins including enterotoxin, hemolysin and aerolysin that are associated with the bacterial virulence. Previous studies have shown that two hemolytic toxins, hemolysin A and aerolysin A contribute to the virulence of Aeromonas hydrophila. In the current study, a total of 50 strains of Aeromonas hydrophila, including 28 (56%) strains isolate...
